China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation successfully launched the 21st batch of satellites for the SatNet constellation on April 8, 2026, from Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center. The mission deployed five Low Earth Orbit communication satellites designed to expand China's growing satellite internet network. These spacecraft represent another incremental step toward completing the massive SatNet constellation, which is planned to eventually comprise 13,000 satellites in total once fully deployed.

The Long March 6A rocket, a solid-fueled launch vehicle developed by China, carried the payload to orbit from the Taiyuan facility located in Shanxi Province. The Long March 6A has become a workhorse for China's satellite constellation deployment efforts, offering reliable lift capability for medium-lift missions. Taiyuan Satellite Launch Center continues to serve as a primary hub for China's domestic and commercial satellite launches.

The successful launch marks continued progress in China's ambitious satellite internet initiative. The SatNet constellation, operated by state-owned China Satellite Network Group, aims to provide global broadband coverage and communications services. With the deployment of Group 21, the constellation is advancing toward its ultimate configuration, positioning China competitively in the emerging space-based internet market alongside international competitors developing similar megaconstellations.
