# Gravity-1 Mission Overview
Chinese commercial launch provider Orienspace successfully conducted the Gravity-1 mission on July 22, 2026, deploying nine Earth science satellites to sun-synchronous orbit. The payload included multiple Dongpo remote sensing satellites (models 13, 14, and 17-20), along with Tianyi 49, also designated Beiyou-4, Xiguang-2-01, and Zidingxiang-3, known as Kaiyun-3. These satellites are designed to support Earth observation and environmental monitoring applications across various scientific and commercial domains.
The Gravity-1 rocket, standing 29.4 meters tall with a 4.2-meter diameter payload fairing, lifted off from Haiyang Oriental Spaceport at 02:54 GMT. The vehicle generated 5,880 kilonewtons of thrust at liftoff and successfully delivered approximately 6,500 kilograms of payload to low Earth orbit. The mission cost approximately $27.22 million and represents a competitive share-ride arrangement for multiple satellite operators.
The launch achieved full mission success, marking another accomplishment for Orienspace, which has been actively operating since 2024. The successful deployment adds to the growing constellation of Chinese Earth observation satellites while demonstrating the commercial viability of rideshare missions to dedicated orbital inclinations.
