SpaceX successfully launched eight Globalstar 2-R satellites aboard a Falcon 9 Block 5 rocket on August 16, 2026, from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. The satellites are part of Globalstar's constellation refresh program, designed to maintain and enhance the company's Low Earth Orbit mobile communications network. Operating at an altitude of 1,410 kilometers in a 52-degree inclined orbit, these satellites will provide global digital voice, data, and fax services to Globalstar's customer base.

The Globalstar 2-R program represents a modernization effort initiated in early 2022, when the communications company contracted MDA for the construction of 17 new second-generation refresh satellites. Rocket Lab manufactures the satellite buses and launch dispensers as a subcontractor on the project. This first dedicated Falcon 9 mission carries eight of the planned satellites, demonstrating SpaceX's role in supporting constellation replenishment across the commercial space communications sector.
