The antenna and supporting facility on Earth that talks to a spacecraft - sending commands up and receiving data down.
A satellite in low orbit is in view of any one ground station for only a few minutes per pass, so the data it collects is useless until there is somewhere to send it. That makes ground infrastructure a hard constraint on how much a constellation can actually deliver, and it is why ground-station-as-a-service has become a business of its own: operators rent time on someone else's global antenna network rather than building their own. The satellite is the visible half of the system; the ground segment is where the capacity limit usually sits.
Ground infrastructure recurs across our coverage precisely because it is the unglamorous bottleneck: the 144 low-orbit missions in our tracker all share the same constraint of short, infrequent contact windows, no matter who built the spacecraft.

The ground segment as a whole, which includes mission control, data processing and distribution - the station is only the radio link. Also distinct from a launch site, which is where rockets leave from, not where satellites are commanded.
